The Three Installment Exhibition Opens with President's Reception Nov.21
Washington, D.C. - The Pepco Edison Place Gallery will host the Montgomery College Foundation's Portraits of Life Exhibit. The emphasis of Portraits of Life is tolerance, understanding, knowledge and the inherent value of the individual. The exhibit opens Nov. 21 with a President's reception for Montgomery College President Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard from 6 - 8 p.m.
It is the first time all three components of the exhibit-Portraits of Life: Holocaust Survivors of Montgomery County; Portraits of Life: Student Experiences; and Portraits of Life: LGBT Stories of Being-will be viewed together.
The first exhibit, Portraits of Life: Holocaust Survivors of Montgomery County, features photographs and personal histories of Holocaust survivors who witnessed evil, then turned their backs on hatred to tell their stories.
The second exhibit, Portraits of Life: Student Experiences, is a tribute in words and images to student experiences of resilience, transformation, and inspiration. This exhibit highlights and increases awareness of humanitarian issues and the conditions with which people throughout the world are suffering--stories told by Montgomery College students.
Portraits of Life: LGBT Stories of Being, the third installment in the series, features photos and essays portraying lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community members who contribute to the quality of life in Montgomery County through their everyday activities.
The Pepco Edison Place Gallery hosts Portraits of Life through Dec. 20, 2013.
The Pepco Edison Place Gallery is open to the public Tuesday - Friday from noon - 4:p.m.
