Pepco Edison Place Gallery Hosts Youth Art Contest Exhibit

National Cherry Blossom Festival Theme Draws Hundreds of Entries

Washington, D.C. - Pepco is pleased to support a National Cherry Blossom Festival art contest featuring entries from local District of Columbia public and charter school students in grades K-12.  In celebration of the festival, students were invited to create a piece of artwork that will inspire others to "Step into Spring" with the festival and celebrate the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C.

The overall contest winner will be determined by the public, who can cast their votes at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery until April 18.

The exhibit will showcase students' artwork from Thursday through April 24 in the Pepco Edison Place Gallery located at 702 8th Street, NW. The gallery is open noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Hours will be extended for students and their families for school viewing days from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, and Saturday, April 5. There is no charge for admittance.

Contest winners will receive prizes and be invited to an awards reception on Wednesday, April 23.  The youth art contest is being presented by the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the D.C. Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative.
