Pepco Sponsors United Negro College Fund Masked Ball

Gala Event Supports Young Scholars and their Schools

Washington, D.C. -The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Masked Ball will be held Thursday, at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium, 1300 Constitution Ave., N.W., sponsored by Pepco.

For nearly 69 years, UNCF's mission has been to increase minority degree attainment by reducing financial barriers to college, providing financial support to its 38 member institutions and serving as a national advocate for minority education.

UNCF administers over 400 academic scholarships, fellowships and summer enrichment programs for students and faculty development. UNCF supports more than 60,000 college students attending over 900 colleges and universities across the country. This year's event will help to make it possible for UNCF to provide more scholarships, laboratory equipment and textbooks for deserving young people as well as the operating funds for member schools.

"Pepco is proud to partner with corporate donors and sponsors to help improve the quality of life for young African-American and Latino men and women through the power of higher education," said Debbi Jarvis, vice president, corporate citizenship and social responsibility, Pepco Holdings Inc. and Masked Ball committee co-chairperson.

The event at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium begins at 6:45 p.m. with a reception followed by dining, a live auction and dancing. Long-time Washington area favorite Julia and Company will provide the entertainment with a special celebrity guest performance by Grammy Award-winning recording artist Mýa.
