WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the eighth consecutive year, Pepco is partnering with Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) to sponsor ZooLights, a free holiday light show at the National Zoo that runs from the Friday after Thanksgiving through Jan. 1 from 5 to 9 p.m. every night except Dec. 24, 25 and 31.
The event, hosted by FONZ, features thousands of environmentally friendly LED lights illuminating trees, walkways, buildings and animated animal silhouettes. Several animal exhibit houses also will be open for public viewing.
On Pepco Night, Saturday, Dec. 6, Pepco volunteers will pass out glow sticks at both entrances and at "Think Tank" locations.
"Pepco is proud to once again support ZooLights," said Debbi Jarvis, vice president, corporate citizenship and social responsibility. "Pepco helped launch ZooLights as an entertaining way to introduce and demonstrate the use of energy efficient LED technology."
Since 2007, when ZooLights festivities first began, Pepco Holdings Inc. has contributed more than $1 million to make ZooLights a part of holiday celebration for tens of thousands of families.
Admission to ZooLights is free.
