Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2017) - Pepco has restored service to more than 8,900 customers who were impacted by Winter Storm Stella. Pepco currently has approximately 4,000 customers without service. Pepco expects to restore service to all of its customers currently impacted by Winter Storm Stella today by approximately 9 p.m.
"Our crews have been working around the clock and have already made significant progress to restore power to customers who experienced outages due to Winter Storm Stella. We have restored power to more than 8,900 customers." said Donna Cooper, Pepco president. "Real-time data from smart meters have enhanced our restoration efforts by helping us pinpoint precise locations of damage or disruptions."
Pepco has used assessment information to evaluate the extent of the damage to the electric system infrastructure from Winter Storm Stella. While restoration has been taking place concurrently, the assessment information is used to more accurately estimate restoration times.
Pepco continues to monitor the storm and prepare for restoration efforts. Wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour could cause further damage to the system. Pepco's trained crews are prepared to respond if the storm damages the system.
Customers Asked to Report Power Outages
Customers are urged to report outages at pepco.com/reportoutage or by calling 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662). Customers' reports are vital to Pepco's restoration efforts because, combined with other customer calls and Pepco's technology; it helps identify the precise location of outages more quickly. Pepco also recommends that when reporting an outage that customers request a call back. The call back process helps Pepco during the area-based restoration process to locate outages that may be specific to customers' homes, such as an issue with the service wire to an individual house.
If reporting an emergency or another life-threatening situation such as downed wires, customers also should call 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662) and follow the prompts.
