Pepco Powers Right Tree, Right Place Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 12, 2017) - Pepco is offering 250 trees on a first-come, first-served basis to District of Columbia homeowners through our "Right Tree, Right Place" tree planting program. This program is offered in partnership with Casey Trees, a D.C.-based nonprofit committed to restoring and protecting the tree canopy of the nation's capital.

D.C. residents can request up to two trees through an online form and schedule a consultation visit with Casey Trees to ensure that optimal trees and planting sites are chosen. Casey Trees will then plant residents' selected trees during the spring or fall planting seasons. There is a subsidized cost of $50 per tree payable to Casey Trees (tree consultation and planting valued at $250), which is required prior to planting.

"We are enthusiastic about the Right Tree, Right Place program which helps to beautify our communities and enhance the environment," said Donna Cooper, Pepco region president. "By planting the right tree in the right place, homeowners can help promote safety and service reliability, while enjoying the aesthetic and environmental benefits that trees provide."

Trees can reduce residential cooling costs by as much as 20 percent, while in the winter months trees reduce wind speeds and infiltration of cold air into homes, thereby reducing heating costs. For more program details, please read our Right Tree, Right Place Program fact sheet.
