Pepco Partners with Suited for Change to Host Shop To Support Women As They Return to the Workforce

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 17, 2017) - Pepco and Suited for Change are partnering to host #Suited4PopUp, an all-day sale benefitting local women in need. Proceeds of the sale will support the organization's mission of assisting low-income women on their path to financial independence with professional attire and life-skills training. Doors open Wednesday, July 19, at 10 a.m. at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery, 702 Eighth Street, N.W. Washington, D.C.
The #Suited4PopUp shopping event features designer and brand name items, shoes and handbags - all at
steep discounts. Come for door prizes, great deals, and to shop for a cause. The #Suited4PopUp will be open from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and the community is invited to participate.
"We're so excited to partner with Pepco on #Suited4PopUp," said Kate Dean, Suited for Change executive director. "We hope the community will shop and find great bargains, but also learn about our organization and get involved with helping local women. Our clients have overcome great obstacles to become newly financially independent, and when you invest in us, you invest in them."
Since 1992, Suited for Change has supported women in the District of Columbia Metro Region seeking to enter the workforce. Clients are building new lives - interviewing for and starting new jobs - and are referred by hundreds of partner social services agencies and organizations. More than 24,000 local women have been through Suited for Change's doors, and today, the organization sees more than 110 clients each month.
"Pepco believes in the work that Suited for Change does in the community, and we're excited that the Pepco Edison Place Gallery can host this event," said Debbi Jarvis, vice president, Pepco Holdings Corporate Relations. "The funds generated from the popup shop will help support initiatives to empower local women for the workforce."
