Pepco Crews Aiding in Hurricane Irma Recovery Efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 10, 2017) - Pepco has dispatched crews and support contractors to assist with restoring power in areas of the southeast U.S. damaged by Hurricane Irma.  More than 250 Pepco employees and contractors have been sent south as part of mutual assistance networks coordinating recovery efforts. Pepco joins with its Exelon sister utilities-Atlantic City Electric, BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power and PECO -in making available more than 1,800 utility employees and contractors to assist.

"Utility crews across the nation support each other in times of need, and we are answering the call to help with the response effort in Florida," said Donna Cooper, Pepco region president.  "We support and thank our dedicated employees and contractors, for taking part in this historic mobilization and restoration effort."

Pepco has been tracking Hurricane Irma since it formed to ensure utility resources could be directed where and when they were needed.  Throughout Exelon, emergency preparedness teams work year-round to coordinate restoration efforts and share best practices to be ready for scenarios like Hurricane Irma.

Over the years, Pepco has sent hundreds of crews and support personnel to assist utilities, in our region and across the country, as part of regional, mutual assistance networks. Just as Pepco provides support, crews from across the U.S. have helped with restoration efforts in this region following severe storms. Pepco greatly appreciates the dedication and skill of our employees and contractors who answer the call to assist others in times of need. We are focused on their safety as they work to restore the energy services that are critical to customers' daily lives.
