New EV Rebates Now Available for Pepco Maryland Customers

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 1, 2019) – Pepco Maryland customers can now take advantage of new rebates to help offset the cost of electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The rebates are part of Pepco's new EVsmart Program, which provides rebates, tools, and information to help customers make more informed decisions when it comes to making the transition to a cleaner transportation option. Through this new program, Pepco provides two types of vehicle charger rebates:

  • RESIDENTIAL – Up to $300 rebate for qualifying Pepco Maryland residential customers who install a Level 2 smart charger at their single-family home.
  • MULTIFAMILY PROPERTY – A rebate of up to 50 percent on qualified charging equipment and 100 percent on installation for qualifying multifamily property managers/owners or homeowner associations that install Level 2 smart chargers or DC fast chargers.

Pepco customers seeking more information on the company's efforts to support the transition to cleaner, more efficient EVs should visit pepco.com/electricvehicles. Here, Pepco Maryland customers can apply for EV charger rebates and explore the company's EV toolkit, which allows customers to learn the basics of EV charging, use a savings calculator to compare the cost of gas versus electric-powered vehicles, view available state and federal tax incentives, and locate local EV dealers. Pepco customers in the District of Columbia also can learn more about the company's efforts to support the transition to cleaner, more efficient electric vehicles, including programs currently under review by the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia.

In addition, Pepco will launch and operate its own EV charging network in Maryland with the first installations by fall 2019. EV drivers will be able to charge their vehicles at 250 Pepco-owned Level 2 smart chargers or DC Fast Chargers at competitive rates. The chargers will be located throughout Montgomery and Prince George's counties, providing drivers flexibility and the ability to travel across the service area without worry that they will run out of power.

The EVsmart Program fuels progress on Maryland's Air Quality and Chesapeake Bay goals, which include having 300,000 zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the road by 2025; currently, less than 20,000 ZEVs are registered in the state.
