WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 19, 2019) – Pepco has donated 4,500 smoke alarms to local communities through its partners at the District of Columbia, Prince George's County, and Montgomery County Fire and Emergency Management Services Departments. This is the 15th year Pepco has donated these important life-saving devices as part of the effort to join local emergency services personnel and help keep our customers and communities safe.
"Our dedication to our customers and the communities we are privileged to serve extends beyond providing safe, reliable, affordable and sustainable energy service," said Donna Cooper, Pepco region president. "The longstanding partnership we have with our emergency management agencies and departments is invaluable. Our smoke alarm donations are one example of how we work together to ensure the safety of residents in the jurisdictions that we are a part of and serve. We strive every day to build upon our commitment to safety, which is enhanced by the many men and women that dedicate their lives daily to protecting others."
Since 2004, Pepco has worked with local emergency service providers to donate nearly 50,000 smoke alarms to communities across Maryland and the District of Columbia. Pepco maintains a close partnership with these local fire departments and other first responders, who work alongside Pepco employees during storms and other emergencies. In addition to the annual smoke alarm donation, the company's Emergency Services Partnership Program helps coordinate trainings, share best practices, and sponsor other charitable giving and volunteer activities with area emergency response teams throughout the year.
