​WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 28, 2018) – Pepco Holdings has named Marshall Murphy, vice president of Corporate Communications. In this role, Murphy is responsible for overseeing the communications, social media, advertising and marketing functions of Atlantic City Electric in southern New Jersey, Delmarva Power in Delaware and Maryland, and Pepco in The District of Columbia and Maryland.

Murphy, who most recently served as director of Communications for Exelon Generation, brings more than 30 years of communications, government affairs, and public advocacy experience to the Exelon utility.

Murphy joined Exelon in 2008 as director of the company's Nuclear Communications group. In 2012, he led the creation of the company's Public Advocacy department, where he was responsible for overseeing the efforts to educate key stakeholders and communities about Exelon's leadership role in providing clean, safe, and reliable energy and energy services to customers across the country. Murphy went on to lead the communications function supporting the company's power plants in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, and West regions of the United States.

Prior to joining Exelon, Murphy held communications and external affairs leadership roles at International Paper and Champion International, both Fortune 500 companies in the paper and forest products industry. Murphy has also held communications leadership roles with Maine Yankee, a company that operated a single unit nuclear power plant in Maine, and several positions in Maine State Government.

Murphy extended his leadership experience in the community, advocating for and supporting nonprofits focusing on education, the arts and the environment. He looks to continue this support in a board and advisory capacity in the District of Columbia and across the Mid-Atlantic region.
