Pepco to Provide Update on Winter Storm Riley Restoration Effort

What: Pepco President and CEO Dave Velazquez will provide information for the public on the damage caused by Winter Storm Riley and our efforts to restore power.

Background: Winter Storm Riley slammed the Pepco region with severe winds and heavy rains, causing major damage to our service territory. Wind gusts of 70 mph or more toppled trees and utility poles, downed power lines, and damaged electric equipment, causing more than 400,000 power outages.

Pepco crews, contractors, and support personnel are continuing to work around the clock in 12- and 16-hour shifts, until all damage has been repaired and all service has been restored. Pepco’s entire Emergency Response Organization has been mobilized with all company resources dedicated to restoring service to customers as safely and efficiently as possible.
