For Immediate Release
Washington, D.C. (March 20, 2018) – With high winds, ice and heavy, wet snow forecast to hit the region over the next 36 hours, Pepco is ready. Pepco's Emergency Response Organization is prepared and all available personnel are standing by to restore service for customers as safely and quickly as possible. In addition to 150 internal linemen, Pepco has 250 overhead line contractors and 180 tree crew personnel ready to support customers across its service area.
Heavy, wet snow and ice can accumulate on trees, adding significant weight that can cause branches to break and result in power outages for customers. If outages do occur, field crews and personnel will work to repair the damage and safely restore service for customers as quickly as possible.
Pepco reminds customers to stay safe during extreme winter weather and prepare for possible storm damage. Customers can visit Pepco's website at www.pepco.com, use the mobile app or contact the company at 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662) to report any outages.
Just as Pepco has made preparations ahead of the storm, customers also should be prepared for the impact of severe weather:
Over the last five years, Pepco has spent hundreds of millions of dollars modernizing the local energy grid to enhance reliability for customers and prevent those outages that can be prevented. This work has resulted in the most reliable electric service in the company's history.
