Pepco is proud to partner with A Wider Circle, a Washington, DC nonprofit with a mission of helping adults and children lift themselves out of poverty. Pepco supports A Wider Circle's Workforce Development Boot Camp which draws on best practices in employment readiness to meet job seekers. The week-long "Boot Camps" focusing on vital employability skills including conﬂict resolution in the workplace, time management, and communication, as well as one-on-one support with resume writing, interview preparation, and the online job search and application process.
Washington Area Women's Foundation’s mission is to mobilize our community to ensure that economically vulnerable women and girls have the resources they need to thrive. Pepco supports WAWF achieve this through our grantmaking, research, and advocacy.
Pepco is a strong supporter of Mary's Center, a federally qualified health center that provides health care, family literacy and social services to 24,000 individuals annually regardless of their ability to pay. Mary's Center looks to empower its clients to enjoy a higher quality of life and improve their health. Pepco is a longtime corporate supporter of the area's United Way, helping to increase access to education, financial stability and health resources in the communities we serve. United Way has been an effective way to channel contributions from the company and from employees to a wide variety of charities.
Pepco is able to annually help bring holiday cheer to many local children and their families through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, a Christmas assistance program that provides gifts of new clothing and toys to thousands of children, ages 0-12. With giving at the heart of the holiday season, twenty-five Pepco employees distributed 210 gift bags and more than 100 employees adopted Angels. Since Pepco started participating in this event in 2013, employees have adopted more than 1,000 Angels.
Pepco and the American Red Cross work together to ensure that residents, businesses and travelers in our region are prepared for and recover from disasters as safely and quickly as possible. After a storm, the American Red Cross provides immediate emergency assistance to those affected. In addition, Pepco partners with the Red Cross to host an Annual Disaster Preparedness Summit, working alongside area businesses, non-profits, and municipalities and government agencies to discuss the concrete steps we need to take to be as ready as possible for disasters, both natural and man-made.
