As part of our commitment to educate our customers about energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly practices, we are pleased to showcase the Pepco WaterShed Sustainability Center. Built by the University of Maryland, WaterShed won the U.S. Department of Energy's 2011 Solar Decathlon which challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. After acquiring the award-winning WaterShed facility, we reconstructed it at our Rockville Service Center as an interactive exhibit where our customers can see and experience the benefits of sustainable living.
A living classroom and laboratory for sustainable energy and water practices, the Pepco WaterShed Sustainability Center features a solar home and hands-on, interactive displays that educate visitors with energy-saving ideas they can apply in their own homes. Inside the Exploration Center many different technologies are demonstrated that enhance the customer experience. If you can't visit in person, our Helpful Ways to Save brochure is another source for energy saving tips you can use at home.
