Pepco is monitoring a coastal storm that is expected to bring severe weather to our area this weekend. Strong winds and heavy rainfall may bring down trees and damage equipment, resulting in power outages for our customers. We are prepared for this event and have enhanced our staffing resources to best respond. Safety is our top priority. We urge customers to stay away from downed wires and other equipment. To report a downed wire, call 877-737-2662. Report and track outages through our mobile app or website at pepco.com/StormPrep.
As a public utility, our net metering service is a regulatory responsibility and we are required to follow the interconnection and net energy metering regulations in our service regions. The information below will help you understand and comply with these regulations. For customers wishing to interconnect to the electric grid, Title 15 of the D.C. Municipal Regulations (DCRM) defines the interconnection and net metering regulations and application processes Pepco follows. Chapter 40 sets out Small Generator Interconnection Rules, and Chapter 9 sets out the Net Energy Metering Rules and Pepco’s net metering application process. Pepco also follows and complies with the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 20.50.09 for Small Generation Interconnection Standards andCOMAR 20.50.10 for Net Metering Authority.
To ensure your successful interconnection with the electric grid, we recommend that you become familiar with our interconnection application and agreements, forms, tariffs and riders, along with the process steps, before soliciting a contractor. For customers who wish to feed generation back into the grid and receive bill credits, a fully completed and signed D.C. Customer Net Energy Metering Contract (NEM Contract) also is required and a net-capable meter must be installed at your premise.
